Iranian Sharbat: A Soothing Persian Fruit & Floral Summer Drink

Nothing better than a proper Iranian Sharbat (or Sherbet) when the weather is hot in summer. Iran has been drinking herbal refreshments. They have mastered the craft of it long before soft drinks as we see today. These drinks are made by diluting a concentrated herbal, flower, or sweet fruit syrup (Sharbat-e Golab, Sharbat-e Anar) in ice and cold water. So the mind and body achieve harmony by blending the sweets with florals and citrus flavors.

Rich in centuries of culinary history is this Persian Fruit and Flower Sharbat recipe. An age-old tradition brought to your kitchen whether for taking a dinner party up a notch or as the better-for-you substitute to sugary sodas.

Fill high ball glasses with ice to the rim in each glass. Add 3-4 tbsp of your Sharbat concentrate. Finally, fill the top with chilled spring water or sparkling. Stir well, add garnish with fresh mint leaves and citrus wheels and drink it straight away.
